Green and More Green

March is almost over.  Saint Patrick’s Day has come and gone.  Spring is several days old, but I couldn’t let the month go by without making what has become my annual pitch for the color green.  Kermit the Frog lamented that it wasn’t easy being green.  However, when it comes to choosing a paint color for your home, being green is quite easy (and fun).  There is green inspiration everywhere and it is even this year’s newest color trend.  Pantone has declared Emerald to be the Color of the Year for 2013.  Pantone describes the color as “Lively. Radiant. Lush . . .  A color of elegance and beauty that enhances our sense of well-being, balance and harmony [ . . .]”   Indeed, I think that description can fit most of the greens you might consider for your home.  I would add that the color green gives us feelings of abundance and energy.  As for the more muted greens, they retain an earthy, balanced and harmonious feel.  Regardless of whether you prefer a bright greens or their more reserved cousins, green can be just the color you need for your home.  It can dominate a room or it can play a small but important part as an accent color.

If you are looking for some green inspiration, look around in nature and in your home.  There are so many different “greens” to discover and appreciate.  We can match any color you choose, so go ahead and show us the bit of lichen from the tree in your front yard or the square from your great-grandmother’s quilt.  If you aren’t quite finding green inspiration in your immediate surroundings, visit our Green Inspiration board over on Pinterest.

And remember, after he thought about it, Kermit decided that green was what he wanted to be after all.

Be well,

Bill
