Life in Color

Do you love color?  We, at Larkin Painting Company, love color because we know human beings are born to see life in color; our eyes, brains, and emotional receptivity are made for it. 070 number2 From as early as two to three months old, babies are able to perceive color.  Emotion is color’s companion.  Sixty-two to ninety percent of our judgments are based on color alone, and we make this subconscious judgment within ninety seconds.  Any color can create a positive or negative mood or perception.  Colors can make us feel rushed or calm, hungry or full, energetic or exhausted.  British Petroleum and Starbucks use green to make us associate health and purity with their companies.  Fast-food chains like McDonald’s use primary reds and yellows to get customers out quickly.  Industries such as food, children’s products and entertainment use orange to connote enthusiasm, happiness and fascination.  Saks Fifth Avenue, Chanel and The New York Times are examples of companies who use black so that you will associate wealth, sophistication, exclusivity, power and glamour with their brands.

Some claim that color does more than create strong emotions and perceptions; color can make us do or not do things.  Researchers have found that children were also better behaved, more attentive and less fidgety when their classroom colors were changed from orange and white to light blue and royal blue.

Spas choose colors such as white, blue and green to help lower your blood pressure, and create a clean-looking, simple, and luxurious environment for their guests.
