Refresh Your Home in 2018 With Defining Colors

The new year has arrived. Grab your favorite beverage and explore six colors that will take this year’s home décor by storm. Last year was all about gray and other neutral paint colors. Based on customer feedback and current design trends, we think vibrant red, black, dusty rose, metallics, purple and blue will define 2018.

Deep, Vibrant Red

Benjamin Moore is a brand favorite of many of our clients. For 2018, the company picked Caliente as its color of the year. Caliente is energetic and vivid. It is a great color for all of the walls of a room, or you can use it as a pop of color on an accent wall. The color is fiery yet harmonizing. It is the perfect color for a dining room.

Black

Black is back. This is the statement color for 2018. The color is deep, rich, sophisticated and sleek. Black compliments practically any theme or color palette in your home. Designers advise treating black as a new neutral. Clients are using black in their dining rooms, bedrooms, living rooms and even in a few ‘man caves’.

Dusty Rose

Penelope is Graham and Brown’s pick for its color of the year. This chic, blushy pink is a new take on neutrals. It possesses the energy of Millennial Pink trend, but with a more muted touch. Penelope is the perfect color to give your living space, bedroom, den or office a warm, relaxed and inviting feel.

Metallics

Metallics will not be seen as a dramatic design statement in 2018. Instead, designers view this color choice as one of the “new neutrals”. Clients are painting their ceilings with shimmery metallics, or use them on accent walls to add shine and light to their space. Other clients have taken advantage of this lively family of colors by choosing wallcoverings with metallic designs or sheen to bring a sparkle to their walls. No matter how you use them, metallics will invigorate any room with shine and sophistication.

Purple

What would an exploration of color be without Pantone’s color of the year. For 2018, Pantone chose Ultra Violet, a rich and energetic shade of purple. This color can add depth to your dining room. It recalls the color of royalty and abundance. If Ultra Violet is too much for your space or taste, Benjamin Moore’s Eggplant is a gentler shade of purple that will pep up any décor.

Blue

The color blue is always a client favorite and there are many shades of blue that will work for your home. Two paint manufacturers picked a shade of blue as their 2018 color of the year. Tapping into the trend of creating tech-free spaces, Behr chose In The Moment T18-15. This blue is tranquil and informal. Sherwin Williams chose the bold Oceanside. This is a deeply saturated blue that will bring style to practically any room in your home.
