What Color is Your Mood?

Do you find that the colors that surround you affect your mood?  Perhaps a blue vase full of vibrant yellow daffodils give you a happy and optimistic feeling, while your mint green linens leave you feeling relaxed yet refreshed.  The same can be said for the walls of your home.  They affect your moods.  When considering new colors for your home, think about which ones will nurture your home, your spirit and your moods.  What colors make you feel, happy, confident, restful or at peace?  Do you want a bold color for all of your walls or only as an accent?  Your home is your refuge, the place where you recharge-where you prepare to face the outside world.  The colors on your walls should help nurture your spirit.

Here are some helpful guidelines regarding mood and color.  Remember these are only guidelines; you should only use color in the way it works best for you.

Red: This color is usually associated with power and intensity.  Many also believe that red (and orange) stimulate the appetite.  Some clients choose to use different hues of  red in a variety of spaces-from kitchens to dining rooms to dens.

Green:  Green can inspire feelings of freshness, newness, nature, and creativity.  This color can also be used to inspire calm and tranquility.  Green can be wonderful in bathrooms, kitchens, craft rooms, anywhere in your home where you think it fits.

Blue:  Most people associate the color blue with the ocean, tranquility, a clear autumn sky, and all-around pleasantness.  Blue is excellent in offices, bedrooms, bathrooms, patios.  It can be used anywhere in your home.

Yellow: Yellow is generally felt to inspire energy and happiness.  We are all familiar with yellows in kitchens, but this color really can be used anywhere in the house.  Just imagine the energy, light and brightness it can bring to a laundry area or child’s playroom.

Of course there are many more colors and endless hues from which you can choose.  Over time, we will be exploring and highlighting different colors on this blog.  There are purples, browns, and whites and on and on-so many to discover.  You can choose varying colors of paint for your walls, a color theme for your wall coverings, or even a mural.  In the meantime, remember to have fun in the process and feel free to express yourself through color throughout your home.  And as always we are here to answer your questions and to make your creative vision a reality.

Best regards,
