Valentine Favorites and Not-So-Favorites

At The Larkin Painting Company, we are dedicated to and love our craft, but we do take time to enjoy the little things in life- like movies. In a nod to Valentine’s Day and February’s unofficial status as the month of love, we thought we would share our favorite and not-so-favorite romantic movies. You might find some of your favorites (and not-so-favorites) among theirs.

Our office manager, Donna loves the movie, The Notebook, but gives a big thumbs down to any Valentine movie on the Hallmark Channel as they are “all the same.” The Hallmark Channel is known for following a formula-very closely. Armend’s favorite romantic movie is A Walk to Remember.  His not so favorite romantic movie is Love Actually. It looks like we have two folks who enjoy Nicholas Sparks’ movie adaptations as both The Notebook and A Walk to Remember are based on his novels. Christine finds that the movies, Crocodile Dundee and Amelie rank high in the romantic department, while Titanic doesn’t fare well on her list. And finally, Mary Ellen has a robust list of favorites including, Nosferatu and Let the Right One In (romantic horror movies), as well as Edward Scissorhands and The Bride of Frankenstein- 1935 version (dark, romantic fantasies). She also enjoys the classics such as Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, Jane Eyre and Anna Karenina. As for her not-so-favorites, Mary Ellen takes a hard pass on Titanic (sorry James, that’s two thumbs down from our team), Manhattan, Annie Hall, etc. and any movie that is Fifty Shades of Anything.

I hope you enjoyed our light-hearted list of movie faves. I hope you have some time this month to relax with a favorite film. Remember to be kind to yourself and enjoy the little things in life.

Be well,

Bill
