Words to Live By~Limitless Creativity

How do you approach decorating and beautifying your home?  Do you plow through innumerable home decor magazines and Pinterest boards marveling at everyone else’s creativity while bemoaning the lack of your own?  Are you impressed by the way the furniture is arranged ‘just so’ and how the paint color is gutsy yet classy?  Many of us fall into this creativity comparison trap.  If you find yourself in this position sometimes, hold those negative thoughts for a moment.  Just like the folks that style the beautiful, pinnable spreads for Elle Decor, you are creative.  Remember that you are creative.  Yes, you.

At times, you may want a little help from someone who works in the field as you beautify your home, but deep down you know what you like and what makes you feel at home.  Using that gut feeling is the first step in recognizing and exercising your own creativity.  You choose the colors on the wall that speak to you.  Just because someone on Pinterest chose Mayan Blue for their walls with pops of Winsor Violet doesn’t mean that you have to use that idea or even like it.  Tap into your creativity.  You have more than only one or two good ideas.  You know the creative vision you have for your home.  Even if your vision has yet to crystallize, trust your creativity, and your vision will develop faster than you imagined.

“You can’t use up creativity.  The more you use, the more you have.” — Maya Angelou

So true.

Be well,
