We Rescued Our Clients’ Ceilings!

Our clients recently hired an electrician to install new light fixtures. Unfortunately, the end result was less than stellar and not at all what they wanted. The lights hung at an odd angle and were not flush with the ceilings. Our clients had chosen that particular style of light fixture for its sophisticated, recessed design. The design was to match the sophistication of their home which overlooks downtown Boston. Before we solved the problem, their electrician told them there was nothing to be done about the way the light fixtures looked. It was suggested that they mound up the ceilings around the light fixtures into graded humps or perhaps start the project all over again from scratch. We came to our clients’ home ready to begin our part of the project to find our clients heartbroken and feeling hopeless about the state of their brand-new lighting decor. Although we were hired to paint their home – all of the walls, ceilings, and trim – we had to try to help them with the light installation fiasco.

This is not an acceptable solution.

And neither is this (mounded ceiling). What a nightmare!

When we see a problem, we think of ways to solve it. “There was nothing to be done” was not a solution. It is our mission to make our clients’ vision for their homes a reality. After our clients explained the issue to us, Tasso, one of the painters said, “Let me fix this for you.” For each fixture, he cut open the ceiling sheetrock and made sure that the fixture was recessed appropriately with sturdy strapping. He then installed custom sheetrock around the base of the light fixture. After installation, he taped the seams, skimmed the taped areas, and sanded them smooth and even like glass. He then applied paint to the ceilings.

Our clients were overjoyed with the result! They trusted us-we got started and solved their problem. If they hadn’t, our clients would have had to live with unsightly light installations that negated the very point of the recessed-style fixtures, or they would have had to live with a build-up of ugly humps around the fixtures. They could have started over but that would have been more costly and caused more disruption, inconvenience, and delay for them.

In their own words: “The crew knows what they’re doing. Tasso is a gem. He redid one of the lights yesterday and I got one of the electricians to come by who checked it out and said it was fine.  The electricians offered to come back next week but we said we will stay with Larkin. This is a ridiculous situation but we’re grateful for your skill and support”.   – Mark and Rachel

Our clients were over the moon with the result! We were happy that they were so happy! This is what we do and who we are as a paint company. We don’t give up. We find solutions.
