Our Favorite Hamburgers for National Hamburger Day

It is almost summer and the perfect time to tell you about our favorite hamburgers. National Hamburger Day is May 28th so we thought we would share our favorite burger recipes with you.

Colleen, our office manager, prefers veggie hamburgers. Her favorite burger is a veggie burger on a potato bun (there’s a twist for you), with goat cheese, onion, tomato and crispy onion straws. Her burger sounds like it is healthy, while still packing on the flavor.

Christine, our color expert, eats a “real”, aka beef, hamburger about two times per year. Usually she cooks up turkey burgers and tops them with ripe avocado for extra flavor. However, once in a blue moon, Christine will enjoy a beef hamburger. When she does, it has to be simple and classic. Christine’s favorite way to make a burger is to of course include Worcestershire sauce. She plates it up on a whole wheat bun, tops the patty with lettuce, tomato and ketchup – a classic, American burger.

One of our expert painters and restorers, Mary Ellen, also loves healthy burgers. Her favorite hamburger recipe is the sweet potato black bean from the Minimalist Baker. This Minimalist Baker’s favorite veggie burger from at the Beer Kitchen in Kansas City inspired this black bean burger. If you need a vegan and gluten-free burger for your picnic, this black bean burger is the only recipe you need.

You need 2 large baked sweet potatoes, cooked beans and rice, nut meal and green onion. Spices include chipotle powder, brown sugar, cumin and paprika. For serving, avocados, sprouts, lettuce, or onion. Any kind of condiment such as spicy mustard or ketchup. Click here for a special whiskey BBQ ketchup recipe. This burger is so sweet and spicy-just perfect.

So there you have it, just in time for BBQ season and those long summer days, recipes for our favorite hamburgers! Enjoy!

Be well,

Bill
