Painting an Antique Home

Our clients needed to have their antique home painted; their home is an important piece of Massachusetts history and dates back to 1669. We treat all of our projects with care, but antique homes require special consideration. Towns usually have preservation rules that apply to historical homes. A home, like this one, that is listed on historical registers is subject to unique regulations and rules. Homes can be registered with the National Register, state historic commission, or a municipal historic register. The National Register may not have restrictions on the design changes in a historic home, but the town may have zoning bylaws, rules, or other ordinances.

For this project, our clients chose beautiful fresh colors for the interior. We used Benjamin Moore paints for all of the wall and trim colors, and for the garage doors. California Paint’s remarkable AllFlor Deck Paint was an excellent pick for our clients’ floors. On the walls, we applied Monterey White in Regal Select Eggshell. Our client chose two trim colors; Monterey White (HC-27) in a semi-gloss sheen and Georgian Green (HC-115) in eggshell. Our clients also found an impeccable gray for their floor colors. California AllFlor Deck paint is incredibly durable and the color is timeless. On the garage doors, we applied Aura Exterior Satin in Custom Essex Green.
