Brightening Up a Brighton Home

We recently completed a project in Brighton. Karen Swanson of New England Design Works helmed the redesign of our client’s house. We worked on many rooms in this gorgeous Brighton home, painting walls, staining trim and installing wallpaper. Wallpaper, painting and staining in Brighton by Larkin Painting Company

We painted the dining room and living room walls with Benjamin Moore’s Healing Aloe (1562). This paint color has quickly become one of Benjamin Moore’s bestsellers. It lends a unique aesthetic to each space as it is an incredibly versatile and gorgeous hue. As you can discern from its name, Healing Aloe has a very light greenish-gray color with a barely perceptible undertone of blue. This color is wondrous in spaces that have plenty of natural light. Lit with natural light, Healing Aloe has a relaxing and serene affect on a room’s atmosphere. Not every room has an abundance of natural light. However, this color works beautifully in spaces lit only with artificial light or lit with a mixture of natural and artificial light. It also works well as a transitional color, meaning this color looks a great with other colors. In other words, Healing Aloe is a “team player”.

Our client’s home features beautiful wood trim that was stained with a deeply rich, warm hue. For the trim, we kept the natural stain, but sanded the trim fully and touched up worn edges. Finally, we gave the trim a fresh coat of polyurethane, brightening up the trim itself and the room. The result was a trim color that works beautifully and seamlessly with Healing Aloe that we used on the walls. Wall painting and staining in Brighton by Larkin Painting Company

In addition to painting the living and dining room walls, we enlisted the help of Bradshaw Wallcovering for wallpaper installation in the kitchen and bathroom. Both wallpapers are bold and quite contemporary. The color palettes of both wallpapers feature cool temperature tones which worked with the grayish green kitchen cabinets and wall color. The kitchen wallpaper is Nina Campbell distributed by Osborne & Little. The pattern name is Coromandel. The bathroom wallpaper is called Tagus, also by Nina Campbell and distributed by Osborne & Little.

While we were working on the walls, our client asked if we could refurbish her dining room table. We sanded the entire table erasing the worn areas of the table assuring a smooth surface. We then stained and sealed the table. The result is stunning! Our client’s dining room is refreshed and ready to host family and guests.
