Dig Out, Organize and Stage with Staging by Meg

We have all dealt with spaces that are less than organized or needed to stage a home or business for sale. Staging by Meg is a specialist in this area. We had the wonderful opportunity to sit down with Meg Bond, owner of Staging by Meg and talk about how her services can enhance your space and provide a sense of peace and calm in your home or office environment.

LPC: Good morning Meg. Thank you for taking the time to meet with us.

MB: You are most welcome. Thank you for having me.

LPC: What can you tell us about your services that is unique in your industry?

MB: Organizing your home can truly add to your quality of life! Instead of being surrounded by clutter (or boxes, if you’ve just moved in), getting your place in shape creates an environment where you can focus on other aspects of your life that are more enjoyable! You are able to concentrate, take care of yourself, your loved ones, relax and just live when your space is organized. Disorganized spaces make our thoughts and emotions disorganized. Studies show clutter and disorganization make us anxious. Clutter and disorganization cause us to lose valuable time and money repurchasing things that we have but can’t put our hands on when we need them.

Also organization is key if you’re “staging” your home or business for sale. A highly-organized space will be the most appealing for prospective clients. A properly staged and organized property allows prospective buyers to envision themselves in the space more easily and allows the bones and potential of the space to truly shine. Staging allows my clients to make their investment back and then some as they sell their property faster and for a higher selling price.

LPC: Can you share with our readers some details about a recent project?

MB: I recently worked on a closet space. Very often closets are a major problem area for people. Lots of things get shoved in there with the intention or hope of addressing it later when they are less busy. What happens is that the less-busy time never arrives, and in the meantime they can’t find the things they need!

The before and after pictures say it all about the transformational power of organizing. Now just imagine your whole house being organized this way! When I stage a property, I often use the client’s own items. Sometimes we agree to bring in my “props”. Often clients will rent items for their vacant properties. The goal is a relaxed and welcoming space, lived-in but not lived-in and worn out by overuse or neglect.

LPC: In addition to organizing, you also provide “staging” services for your clients who are selling their property. Why is staging a crucial part of the selling process?

MB: Staging your home before the realtor takes photos, will immensely add to its appeal which draws in more clients, and therefore drives up your selling price! When potential buyers walk into your house, they want to be able to picture themselves there in a clean and attractive space. They want and need to see how furniture will fit in a large or small room. They must be drawn to the welcoming atmosphere of the property. My clients have benefited from staging and now they wouldn’t think of selling a house without investing in organizing and staging.

LPC: How do you help a client determine where to begin in a home organizing project?

MB: We first sit down and talk about their priorities – which room/space is most important to them to be organized. We do a walk through so that I can see every space that we’re dealing with, then, by asking questions, I help determine what the “kingpin” area is that really needs to be tackled first so that everything else can move along. Everything needs a “home,” and that usually means moving things around to create space. Sometimes you’ve got to organize the garage before you can start to move things out of the living room – even though the living room is the place that’s the most important to you!

LPC: What aspect or aspects of the organizing process do you find most exciting or enjoyable?

MB: I really enjoy helping people get their homes in order! Everyone agrees that they feel more relaxed, more at ease, when their home is neat and organized. They can finally breathe and focus on other things in their lives, rather than being overwhelmed by clutter! The process of figuring out where everything fits is fun for me, and it’s exciting to see the end result!

LPC: Thank you so much for sharing how you turn your clients’ visions for their homes into reality.

MB: You are more than welcome. Thank you for having me.
