Larkin Painting Company takes pride in bring joy to our clients from the beginning to the end of the painting process. Our goal is to have our clients enjoy the act of transforming of their spaces from the estimate to the day our team packs up and leaves. Of course, the end result should be the vision brought to reality, bringing them joy and comfort. We are happy to share a conversation we had with sirTANK Design, an interior design firm that shares our values and approach to transforming your home with design and color. LPC: What part of the design process do you find the most exciting?

STD: The initial creative process is full of possibility and also gives us a chance to take risks. Be it a unique or stunning wallpaper pattern or intriguing upholstery, we’re open to discovering something new each time we tackle a new project or space. We love finding opportunities for our clients to go bold and surprise themselves in their decision making.

LPC: What’s going on for your company right now? Any projects to share with us?

STD: We’re currently overhauling a stunning masonry home built in 1910 in Jamaica Plain. It has a dramatic two-story front entry with beautiful millwork and gorgeous light throughout the home. Our client is asking for lots of color and layers which is music to our ears.

LPC: That sounds like a dream project! What do you think your clients enjoy most about working with you?

STD: We strive to create spaces that feel inventive and infused with personality and panache. We’ve found the best way to do so is get to know our clients through positive relationships, fulfilling conversations, and humor. It’s about the people that live in the space, not the space itself, and every time we bring the focus back to that point our client’s fall a bit more in love with us. Did we mention the humor?

LPC: We believe humor is necessary for contentment and a joyful life. It is a pleasure to work with your company, as sirTANK Design holds that same philosophy. We love that you bring this to your clients, that your process helps them to feel comfortable with themselves, with humor, with their approach to their spaces. We can see how much you value personality and authenticity in how you work and frame your business from how you approach design to the name of your company. Can you share how your company got its unique name?

STD: Yes, our approach to design is built upon and fed by authentic relationships, humor and honest conversation. It is definitely reflected in our firm. Our name honors Tank, our family labrador. He moved through the world proudly with his heavy-bellied strut, so much so that he gained an official title. That is how we became sirTANK Design.
