Newton Transformation

Transformation is wonderful. Sometimes, no matter how beautiful a home design is, we want to change things up. Larkin Painting recently completed a project for Core Group, an excellent contractor. Let us take you through the transformation of three different areas in this glorious, Newton home. We worked on the bar area, the master bedroom and the dining room.

                        Bar Area Before

First, we addressed the bar area. It is located outside the master suite. The original color was a warm, mossy ochre. The clients desired a change. We painted this area a soft, elegant white. The space was definitely elevated by the beautiful neutral color.

From the bar, we moved on to the master bedroom. The paint on the walls and mouldings (trim) had lost their sheen. There was not much difference between sheen (shine) of the trim and the sheen of the walls. We applied a higher-gloss paint on the trim so that it would pop and contrast against the wall color and sheen. The architecture is breathtaking, but it was not able to shine or stand out with dull trim paint. With the high-gloss paint on the trim, the room truly sings. What a transformation!

                    Dining Room Before

The third and last space we transformed was the dining room. Originally, the clients had a beautiful, metallic wallpaper on the ceiling. It was stunning but the clients felt that it was time for a change. They desired an even simpler look for the space. It is quite interesting how much work is involved when creating a simpler, less complex feel and look to a space. The work we did in this space is a perfect example of that. Removing the wallpaper from the ceiling required water. This meant protection of everything from the crown moulding to the light fixture to the dining room furniture to the floor was tantamount. The wallpaper removal was quite the process, but every bit worth the stunning result.

After we placed a protective covering over everything, we skimmed and sanded the ceiling. Once we discerned that the ceiling was smooth and clear from any imperfections and dust, we primed the surface with a white primer. After the primer, we then painted the ceiling a lovely, crisp white. Our clients chose a color that allowed the other stunning features of the dining room to firmly stand out. It is a marvelous space that is now fully realized with the correct paint color.

These three rooms were thoroughly transformed and refreshed. The rooms are bright. The new paint accentuates the fabulous architecture. What a wonderful transformation!
