Evergreen Fog

2022’s Colors of the Year evoke a mood of optimism and calm. As humanity struggles with the daily challenges of the pandemic, everyone is feeling a need for soothing and relaxed surroundings. Sherwin-Williams understands the trend and chose Evergreen Fog for its Color of the Year. Different tones of gray have been and continue to be very popular. Evergreen Fog is a sophisticated, gray-green hue in the mid-tone range. It is an organic, easy, and comfortable color. Evergreen Fog is a mid-tone hue but it can still be used as a statement color. The outside world is harried and ever-changing, using Evergreen Fog for your entryway, bedroom or other living areas is a beautiful way to signal calm and provide an immediate restful feeling. Sue Wadden, director of color marketing at Sherwin-Williams, describes Evergreen Fog as an inspirational color. “[It] inspires us to begin again and is a great choice for modern interiors and exteriors.” She suggests using earthy and warm neutral hues to complement the color. Colors such as rich coffee, beige, and camel work seamlessly with Evergreen Fog. Designers often add depth and texture by decorating with rattan, wood, leather and installing textured wallpaper on an accent wall. Evergreen Fog is also an excellent base color if you want a more glamorous or modern look. Using metallic finishes such as shiny brass, pale gold, and matte black bring any space into the stylish future.

Breezeway

Behr introduced its own take on green for 2022. Their Color of the Year is Breezeway. This is an invigorating blue-green with touches of soft silver. The color blue, whether dark or light value, always evokes an atmosphere of steadiness, calm, and dependability-an environment everyone is craving during these unsettled times. Breezeway itself is a bright, crisp blue that references the color of sea glass and clear, tantalizing Caribbean waters. This light, sparkly blue makes any space feel tranquil and luminous but also inspires a sensation of focused energy, liveliness, and renewal. Erika Woelfel, Behr’s vice president of color and creative services, describes Breezeway as “a color that welcomes a hopeful sense of renewal, restoration, and healing.”

Breezeway is a versatile hue. It can be contrasted with bright white trim. It is perfect for a cheery and welcoming entryway, a nursery, or a bustling kitchen. To create a peaceful, gentle, and relaxed environment, add warm neutrals like taupe, wood textures, and velvety cream. Breezeway is the perfect color for bedrooms and spa-like bathrooms. Even though it is reminiscent of the sea, this lively blue-green works beautifully with different styles-from modern to mid-century retro-chic to farmhouse cozy.
