Spray Painting Furniture

Our client wanted to restyle some furniture pieces – a bed frame, headboard and footboard, and two nightstands. One of the easiest ways to change up your decor and add spark to your home is to repaint the furniture. The original colors of our client’s pieces were bright. The nightstands were the color of paprika, while the bed was a light aqua blue.

We took the pieces to our Larkin Painting shop so that we could use the spray application technique on these pieces. This technique produces such a smooth sheen and texture on the furniture, and of course, leaves no brushmarks. We began the process by deglossing all of the pieces and sanding them lightly. Next, we applied two coats of a bonding primer and made sure to sand between each coat.

For the finish coats, we applied Kem Aqua from Sherwin Williams. Kem Aqua is a paint that is perfect for finishing wood furniture and cabinetry. The clients chose Ethan Allan Cirrus White for the color. The result is a fresh and bright look.
