Refinishing Water-Damaged Cabinets

Water damaged our client’s cabinet doors. The water damage caused the paint to peel and crack. In order to repair the two cabinet doors, we removed them and took the doors to our shop. First, we scraped away the loose and cracked paint. Next, we applied wood filler and sanded the surface until they were smooth.

When we were satisfied that the surface was completely smooth and even, we spot primed the doors. After the primer coat dried, we applied two spray finish coats to the doors. The spray application technique provides a beautifully smooth finish. Since the cabinet was originally painted a while ago, we made sure that the new paint application exactly matched the existing color and finish of the cabinet doors.

We returned the doors to our client’s home and reinstalled them. The water damage is gone and the cabinet doors look like new-a perfect result that our client loved.
